Let It Rain!

After months and months of no rain and temperatures that reached over 120 degrees Fahrenheit outside and 100 degrees inside the house, there is nothing like the joy that comes with a storm.  Our rainy season came about 6 weeks late this year, which makes the falling of rain and the blowing of cool, stormy winds all the more appreciated and celebrated.  I took these photos while we waited for a storm to come in a few weeks ago...

There's a storm on the way!
.
This is the most delightful feeling.  After the heat of a Nigerien day, the cooling breeze and the darkening clouds feel heavenly.

Sitting, waiting for the rain, and enjoying a little Micaela sunshine!
.
And here comes the rain!

This storm is a rare treat, because there wasn't thunder at first.  This meant the kids could run in the rain, and boy, did they run!
.
When the wind picked up, we called them up on the porch to watch.  Look at the puddles forming in our yard!
.
A penny for your thoughts, sweet girl...
.
We all just watch, soaking in the beauty of wet and of water!

 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving;
sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
Who covereth the heavens with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
Psalm 147:7-8
